Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Cabinet reshuffle today (February 13) has been welcomed by the Conservative Group in the Welsh Parliament.
Commenting on the reshuffle, Paul Davies AM/AC, the Leader of the Opposition, said:
“Of course, I and my Welsh Conservative colleagues, are particularly pleased that Simon Hart MP and David TC Davies – respectively the Secretary of State for Wales and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Wales – have retained their roles.
“Simon and David are well known and well respected as passionate voices and strong advocates for Wales in Westminster, and as part of the 14-strong group of Welsh Conservative MPs in the UK Parliament.
“They, like us in the Welsh Parliament, are keen to unleash Wales’ potential and play our role as part of the ‘Awesome Foursome’ of UK nations.
“And it is more important now than ever.
“In Wales, a stalled, stale, failing Labour administration has run services for two decades. Only yesterday we saw a number of Welsh Labour Members protest outside the Senedd against their party’s plans to downgrade A & E services at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
“Labour Members, and other parties, then voted with the Welsh Conservatives to push through an amended motion to safeguard services there and at other health boards, all of which have either been put into special measures or receive targeted interventions because of how poorly they have been run.
“So again, congratulations to Simon and David from us in the Welsh Parliament.”
