Welsh Conservatives have welcomed a budget that delivers for Welsh families and businesses.
Responding to the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s statement in the Commons, Shadow Finance Secretary, Nick Ramsay, said measures announced would boost employment and cut taxes for Welsh workers.
Meanwhile, he also claimed the Welsh Labour Government had “run out of excuses” to under-fund the Welsh NHS.
He also welcomed progress on a North Wales Growth Deal, and the opening of negotiations for a similar deal in Mid Wales – something Welsh Conservatives have championed.
Mr Ramsay said:
“This is a budget that delivers for Wales, including a welcome £1.2 billion in additional funding.
“We have seen measures to get more people into good quality, well-paid work and to reduce that burden of income tax, leaving more money in the pockets of hardworking families.
“The Welsh NHS will benefit too. Under-funded in recent years by the Labour Party, but additional investment in the English health service means that the Welsh Government has now run out of excuses to withhold the resources that frontline services so desperately need.
“We also welcome the Chancellor’s announcement of progress on a North Wales Growth Deal, and the opening of negotiations for a similar deal in Mid Wales following calls from Russell George.
“It is clear that the Welsh Conservatives are the only party with a plan to develop and grow the Welsh economy, investing in public services, keeping taxes low, and supporting families and business across the UK.”
