World Religion Day celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. Held annually on the third Sunday in January, its aim is to foster the establishment of interfaith understanding and harmony by emphasising the common denominators underlying all religions.
Mohammad Asghar AM/AC, whose portfolio as a Shadow Minister includes Faith, said:
“Through a variety of events held around the globe, followers of every religion are encouraged to acknowledge the similarities that different faiths have.
“Whatever religion you are, World Religion Day is your chance to share your culture with others and to take the opportunity to learn from others about theirs.
“Everyone should have the right to practice their religion without fear, persecution or discrimination.
“Faith should be something that brings people together and not drives them apart, and that is why I am happy that the Welsh Conservatives are supporting World Religion Day.”
